Head Start Program

Start your university studies during, or immediately following high school.

Dominican University College is proud to welcome high school students.  Whether they are studying in Quebec or Ontario, at home or in the school system, the small class sizes at DUC, as well as the availability of its professors, foster student growth.

The DUC Head Start Program allows young students who are interested in philosophy or theology to learn at the university level, registering for one class at a time, either during or just after their high school studies.  This is usually at fifteen years of age, but exceptions are possible for younger students.

DUC eases the transition between high school and university by offering a progressive programme planned for each student, based on his or her age and academic history.  Young students usually start by following classes in the Head Start Program, and eventually register for one of the certificat programs, or undergraduate programs.

In January 2024, Dominican University College will offer the course Introduction to Philosophy as part of its Head Start Program.  The course description is available here:  https://dominicanu.ca/course/introduction-to-philosophy-2/

During the session, students will be invited to read, reflect and discuss together as well as with an experienced professor from the Faculty of Philosophy.   The individual end of session exam is usually conducted orally.

This course will be offered in hybrid form, and costs $204 per student.  Financial aid is available under certain conditions.  The schedule is yet to be confirmed.
